The HOFMANN balancing machines for toolholders type PTB (Portable Tool Balancer)
utilize the force measuring principle to obtain a permanent load-independent
calibration. They are easy to operate and require only minimal training for personnel
to use them with optimum results. The use of piezoelectric measuring pick-ups in
conjunction with speed-variable drives allows operation at low rotational speed with
higher initial unbalance as well as for extremely high precision balancing using high-
speed.

A characteristic feature besides the force measuring principle is the high technical
standard of the measuring computer, which not only offers the classical unbalancing
compensation, but also, due to laser supported positioning (patent), considerably
simplifies the use of built-in compensation rings or sliding weights. These toolholders
with integrated balancing rings can be repeatedly measured and balanced directly
on the PTB Toolbalancer without machining (mass removal) when the associated
HOFMANN- split angle-compensation method is applied. This simplifies and
accelerates the balancing process considerably and prevents the destruction of the
toolholders due to repeated drilling, milling or grinding !
